NEW YORK—With winter setting in many parents are wondering what to do with their children, who are starting to get cabin fever and square eyes from too much T.V. But it’s not just exercise that have parents and teachers worried these days, and many are perplexed as to how to get unruly children back in line and keep youth out of crime.
In Harlem, a karate school with old school karate values has hit the nail on the head. The school offers classes for all ages—from pee-wee classes for two to five year olds to serious karate training with Master Kushinda Thorton, children there are getting a good dose of exercise. But that’s not all.
“WORK HARD ALL THE TIME!” chant the students in unison at the start of the Tuesday evening class. “No drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes!” They yell, continuing with Thorton’s ‘Virtues of Life’ words of reinforcement, “Give thanks for the opportunity to improve ourselves, our personal behavior, character, moral consciousness, self control, self confidence…”

NYC Post Office Launches Operation Santa Claus
By KATY MANTYK

NEW YORK—Santa made an early trip to the Big Apple on Dec. 2 to join post office officials, first grade students from Manhattan’s P.S 19, and the choir from Preston High School in the lobby of the Main Post Office on 33rd Street and Eighth Avenue, to launch Operation Santa Claus.
Each year, letters written by children and adults to Santa Claus are made available at the New York Main Post Office to members of the public who are willing to give the gifts in Santa's name. Many letters are written by underprivileged children and families who, for economic reasons, face a bleak Christmas.
New York’s Operation Santa Claus is the largest of its type in the country, receiving approximately 500,000 letters ever year.

European Parliament Members Seek Dialogue Over Satellite Disruption
By Evan Mantyk

Five European Parliament (EP) Members are inviting the chairman of France-based satellite company Eutelsat to their next plenary session amidst reports that the company caved to pressure from the Chinese communist regime.
The company ceased broadcast of an independent Chinese-language network into communist-controlled China in June, citing technical reasons. A July 10 investigative report by Reporters Without Borders revealed, however, that the broadcast cut was a premeditated act, owing to influence from the Chinese regime ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
“As you know, as a firm defender of human rights in China, the EP has a clear standpoint on defending the freedom of media,” reads the letter addressed to Eutelsat Chairman Giuliano Berretta.
